|USS REASONER FF-1063 REUNION UPDATE|
As a reminder, the payment portal for those who have previously registered changed yesterday. What this means is that if you previously registered and wish to add an event, you will not be able to. However, do not be concerned about this.
Some have inquired about having to show tickets at the separate events – this will not be required. We trusted each other with our lives and each event is strictly on the honor system.
I encourage everyone to attend as many events as possible. There will be sufficient food and drink at the kickoff at Ballast Point and the Meet & Greet at Stone Brewing for everyone. In fact, the venues have told me that you should be able to make this your dinner for the evening should you choose.
If anyone is considering joining us for the golf event, I need to know this right away if we need to add additional tee times.
Thursday September 15 kickoff: this will now be held at Ballast Point in Little Italy. To secure a space for us to meet given the number attending, it was necessary to place a deposit. Food and drinks (beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks) will be provided. The cost is $50 per person attending and the hours of the event are adjusted to 5PM to 8PM (1700 – 2000). Tickets are available for purchase on the Registration Page.
Friday September 16, the Reunion kicks into high gear:
Golf outing: For those wanting to play in the golf outing, it will be held at the venerable Admiral Baker North Course. Had hoped to have the Sea and Air course on North Island, but the logistics of base access make that difficult. Tee times for 24 have been secured with the first tee at 0830. Cost is $20 and includes goody bag, prizes, and donuts and coffee starting at 0730 at the course. Each golfer will pay for their green fees at the course. The retired military rate is $47, veteran is $56 and sponsored guest is $62. The rates include carts. Have the proof of service for the discount. Tickets are available for purchase on the Registration Page.

Meet and Greet Event: this will now be held at Stone Brewing at Liberty Station. To secure a space for us to meet given the number attending, it was necessary to place a deposit. Food and drinks (beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks) will be provided. The cost is $55 per person attending and the hours of the event are adjusted to 5PM to 8PM (1700 – 2000). This is a unique space that many of you will recognize from Boot Camp as the NTC Mess Hall that has been repurposed into this venue. The Bocce Court has been reserved for the event and features outdoor games for those wishing to play. Tickets are available for purchase on the Registration Page.
Saturday September 17, Reunion day arrives, Plan of the Day is as follows:
USS MIDWAY Museum Tour, 0830: this is going to be a memorable experience for all. We are working on organizing a trip to the USS MIDWAY Museum on Saturday morning. One of our shipmates, Captain Steve DesJardins, USN (Ret.), former ASWO, Gunno and Electrical officer (1980-84) is a MIDWAY docent and is setting up a special docent led tour starting at 0900. We need to know how many of us are interested so he can arrange tickets and enough docents to bring us around the ship. The museum opens at 1000, so we are able to board an hour early to tour the island including the Bridge, the Charthouse and PriFly on a private tour before the ship opens. The MIDWAY is the foremost maritime museum in the world and is listed by TripAdvisor as the number one attraction in San Diego. We are working on covering the cost of tickets through the generosity of the docents, who are all volunteers and most are veterans. Parking is $10.00 on the pier. Budget 4 to 5 hours for the Tour. Due to the length of the tour, we will not be gathering at El Indio for lunch (but don’t worry, we’ve got some Mexican food covered for later in the day). Please sign up for tickets on the Registration Page. This will be a special day.

Main Reunion Event, 1700 at the Fleet Reserve Association in Imperial Beach:
Our main gathering of old shipmates will be at the Fleet Reserve Association from 1700 to 2200. I’m hoping for a surprise guest. In keeping with a Port Visit of old, this will be a celebration of Street Food with a taqueria providing traditional Mexican tacos, beans and rice, vegetables, and chips and pico, along with some soft drinks. To support the venue who have made the space available at reduced cost, alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from the venue. The cost is $25 per person. Please sign up for tickets on the Registration Page.

Sunday, September 18, Farewell Lunch:
Coronado Brewing Company, 1100: this event is now unhosted. I unfortunately must return to the East Coast on Sunday morning due to a family commitment. I recommend that shipmates show up at the venue and meet up with others for seating. Alternatively, a different location can be chosen. Should anyone have one, please let me know.
